A1 BMW Racing - Track Car Building

BMW 3 Series 335i Coupe with a 735i engine conversion Track Car

Here we have an excellent example of a truly powerful BMW 335 race spec car which has been custom built and tested by A1 BMW. The car has been built from the shell of a 318i (1991) - Last of the E30 shape and has a BMW 735i engine conversion.

  • The Engine: The engine is from 1993 735i with low mileage. It has a six branch Alpina and full stainless steel exhaust (custom built by BTB Exhausts)), E36 M3 Induction Kit, Modified throttle body, custom-built engine mounts, new high fuel pressure valve, new radiator and E36 M3 cooling fan.

  • The Gear Box: The gear box is fully reconditioned and has a racing clutch and 40% lightened flywheel, a custom built propshaft, 2.93 fully built limited slip diff, quick shift, new slave cylinder / master cylinder and new battery.

  • Handling: New Twin blade strut-brace and a new X-brace underneath and a further strut-brace for the rear. E36 M3 wishbones, fully adjustable Coney front and rear shocks, H&R front and rear springs, high performance discs and yellow racing brake pads (front and rear), racing brake fluid, brand new bushes all round. Five spoke alloys with Bridgestone 040.

  • Interior: The vehicle has a full A4-point roll cage, Cobra racing seats and harnesses, fitted fire extinguisher, custom made heated front windscreen, water and oil pressure gauges, aluminium floor plates and racing steering wheel.

  • Exterior: The car has been resprayed with graphics, M-Tech Spoiler, easy flow air-ducts and competition bonnet pins.

  • Other Details: This car has been stripped of its weight to just under 1000kg. It was remapped and tested on a 'rolling road' and produced an astonishing 249BHP - we had 155 mph just over 5.5 on the rev limiter. It also made the quarter mile at Santa Pod in just under 13.9 seconds.
This car is one in a million - it was built in the A1 workshop with the upmost care and dedication. It drives absolutely superb and is highly addictive. Awe-inspiring power and superb handling.

Converting a classic E30 BMW with a powerful 735i engine is unique combination and this race-car delivers more power than the E30 M3. The sound of the engine is music to your ears, the limited slip-differential is absolutely awesome, please feel free to call or email if you have any questions regarding any conversion or race car preparation.

Myall Racing - Paul Myall's Kumho Championship BMW M3

Harlow racing driver Paul Myall is all set to enter the “2007 Kumho BMW Championship”. The entire field use a controlled road legal Kumho tyre making it the fastest race series in the UK using road tyres. The field consists of various models from the BMW range from the 318 right up to the flagship M3 and M5. The series races at the UK’s premier circuits including Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Silverstone with the first race at Brands Hatch on Saturday 21st April.

Paul will be driving a 1995 BMW M3 in Class A of the series. This distinctive peppermint green race-car is the result of a year’s preparation work. Formerly his everyday road car, after doing several track-days, Paul decided to take things up a level and enter the world of motor racing. For the specialist build Paul approached A1 BMW Spares as they knew BMW's inside out and had already been servicing this car for some time. With Paul’s research and A1 BMW 's mechanical skills and adaptability the car was stripped down, fitted with an FIA rollcage and had all excess weight removed.

It was then fitted with lightweight composite panels and re-sprayed in its current green livery (paint by Mott’s Body Repairs in Colchester) to ensure it stood out on the track. Next followed the complex and costly procedure of suspension set-up and engine tuning as well as ensuring the car met all of the Motor Sport Association (MSA) regulations.

The car is now nearly ready to race with only minor fettling remaining. As motorsport is no cheap sport, like all other racing drivers, Paul is now about to put on his salesman’s hat and seek some sponsorship to run the season. Each race meeting costs around £600 once travel, fuel, tyres, consumables and race entry fees are accounted for. The motorsport arena has always been at the top of the billboard of forward thinking companies who want to target the more affluent sector of the marketplace.

Paul plans to place his car at sponsors locations when it’s not being raced so watch out for it around town. Progress can be monitored on Paul’s website (www.myallracing.co.uk) and we’ll keep you up to date with race reviews and write up after each meeting.
